Rafael Nadal has won the US Open title three-times throughout his career, and he determined to win it again in 2019.
Nadal first won the US Open title back in 2010, then in 2013, 2017 and holding a 58-11 record, an 84% win-rate in this season. During the last nine season, Nadal has only been beaten prior to the semi-final stage twice, one of which was due to an injury that forced him to retire against Juan Martin del Potro during their semi-final last year.
Rafael Nadal is enjoying a great season, and he has won three titles so far this year, including the Rome and Canadian Masters. The Spaniard’s biggest title of the year was a record-extending 12th French Open title, and his 18th grand slam title. He has won 21 out of 22 matches, including winning his last 4 in succession, courtesy of his run to the Canadian Masters title. Nadal also holds the best win-rate with 87.23% on the ATP Tour and 88.24% in hard court.
However, Nadal must be at his absolute best if he wants to overcome two biggest challenges to win this year’s tournament which are Novak Djokovic and his own body.
Nadal has been struggled against Djokovic for years now with the last victory over Djokovic was the 2013 US Open final. This is such a huge mental barrier for him as Djokovic’s recent dominance over Nadal on hart-court surface.
The other problem for Nadal is his injuries when playing on a hard court, and he’s already had injuries this year at hard court events added to the last injury that forced him to retire from his semi-final here twelve months ago. However, Nadal has had enough rest and seems to be fully fit right now.
Rafael Nadal is the 2nd favourite for the US Open this year, if he can remain fit, we believe he has a huge chance at walking away with the 2019 US Open title.
